Color usage

Proportion, approved combinations and contrast.

The 60 · 30 · 10 proportion

  • 60% neutrals — white or black, in backgrounds and large areas.
  • 30% text — black, white and gray for content and structural elements.
  • 10% petrol — whatever needs attention: buttons, links, one highlight per piece.

Red is an exception, not decoration: it appears only for alerts and errors.

Approved combinations

Contrast calculated with the WCAG 2.1 criterion. For regular text, the minimum is 4.5:1.

Petrol on the dark theme

On a black background, the base petrol does not reach enough contrast for text. Use light petrol for links and icons, and the base petrol only for fills with white text.
